In a new move reflecting its commitment to maintaining balance in the energy market, the OPEC+ alliance announced a gradual increase in oil production of 137,000 barrels per day starting in October 2025.
The decision came after a virtual meeting of major producing countries, including Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq and the UAE, where members agreed that this limited increase falls within a flexible strategy that allows for adaptation to changes in supply and demand in light of global economic challenges.
The coalition confirmed that the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee will continue to monitor full compliance with previous agreements, while compensating for any uncontrolled increases since January 2024.
Analysts believe this move sends a message to the markets that OPEC+ is still able to manage production levels in a way that protects the interests of member states and achieves long-term stability amid global economic pressures and geopolitical tensions.
